The Relationships And Motivation Lab (RAMLAB) consists of undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers working to understand how interpersonal relationships work. The team employs a range of empirical methods—experimental, observational, longitudinal, experience-sampling, etc.—to investigate when two strangers feel a touch of fire during a first meeting, how people can navigate conflict more constructively, why the changing nature of marriage makes it more difficult to build a fulfilling marriage even as it makes the best marriages better than ever, and so forth.

** Eli is not likely to admit a new primary graduate student in social psychology for the Fall of 2020. That said, students in Northwestern's social psychology program typically work with more than one advisor, which means that students who are primarily admitted into a different lab are likely to have the opportunity to collaborate with Eli, too. Those who are broadly interested in pursuing graduate work in our program are encouraged to apply. **
